FBI centre is a private non profit scientific&education organisation with experience & expertise in:social scientific research, communicating results to the public, elaborating on gender issues, stimulating participation of marginalised groups(women, special needs people, migrants, elderly & youngsters drop outs/at risk of dropping out). Our seminars, workshops&courses develop adult education, vocational training & school application. We’re a kind of spin off from the University of Innsbruck, department of pedagogy. Key staff consists of three senior researchers.
We have a large&dense network in Austria&Germany, and through European projects(“Science in Society”, “Lifelong Learning”, “Europe for Citizens” & “Youth in Action”)in the whole Europe, consisting of organisations&people actively supporting our work(youth centres, social work, schools&colleges, civil services in youth work & education, labour market services etc. )
FBI Centre is a member of Plattform gegen die Gewalt in der Familie (Platform against Violence in the Family;Austrian platform of 45 organisations focussed on issues like youth work & managed by Austrian Federal Ministry of Economy, Family & Youth).
In Austria, 8.3% of 18-24years olds have at most lower secondary education&aren’t in further education/training. Young unemployment rate is 8.8%. Job orientation is a part of the curriculum in the final year of compulsory education, and the existence of some supporting measures when leaving school, but about 15 % of youngsters quit education without graduating, 42 % in the vocational system. They can’t decide whether to continue their studies or get a job&in what field. Some students want a career in a certain field without knowing what it involves, or if they have the necessary skills&competencies. There are youngsters(34 % )who want to start their own business but don’t have entrepreneurial skills. Skills&studies are important, proof being that:70 % finished an apprenticeship, 36,6 % have a university entrance degree, 5,7 % finished compulsory education & 4,5% finished a study before founding an enterprise.
Only19. 5% of Austrian business founders are under30. In building industry-26, 2 % , production of goods-16,8 % &services-18,8 % . Highest percentages are in data processing&databases-30,9 % , credit system&insurance industry-30,2 % &advertising-27,7 % . Their main motivations to set up a company are:new challenge, to be one´s boss&the perspective to earn more money.
