Students become entrepreneurs

Nicholas Sciortino and Giovanni Renda are between 15 and 17 years old, but already thinking how be entrepreneurs. They are students to the ITIS Vittorio Emanuele III of Palermo, which, thanks to the business incubator born inside the school, have presented their business projects to the DPixel-Barcamper, an innovative program for startups aimed to search high-impact ideas.

50 students of ITIS schools have worked on six projects mainly related to new technologies: “The Night” is an app for smartphones that helps the user to search restaurants and entertainment; “Gnos” is a game in the form of app that allows the user to listen to a fragment of a song on the contrary, with the purpose to predict the title. “Streamcam” is a software that allows you to capture images streaming from multiple devices, while “SecurityHouse” is a low cost alarm for the house.

All projects have been developed within the business incubator of Vittorio Emanuele III “Sides – Lowering Age to Innovation”, a program that supports youth entrepreneurship since an early age.

The idea of Sides is reduce the age at which students begin to talk about innovation and entrepreneurship, bringing it to the school between 14 and 18 years, so that children acquire the knowledge to became an entrepreneur.
